Little Drummer Boy

While Kendra and Hudson were at a holiday party at our neighbors house, Hudson decided to accompany their son on the drums for a little holiday music.

Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Hudson was in the spirit today as he headed to his holiday music class. He insisted that the hat would stay on all day. He even knew some of the words to Winter Wonderland when it came on the radio today.

Just a little to the left

Nothing like a massage after your haircut. Next time we'll have to try the shampoo and hot face towel to start off.

Daddy opted for the free beer. ;)

We were in cahoots with Uncle Craig to surprise everyone by coming back to Dallas. While we waited, we had to see how many times we could ride the escalator with cousin/idol Tru-Man. It was awesome. Craig came at the right time to relieve a little stress and add a fun diversion.

Hudson got his very own Christmas tree in his room today. We got him 12 small car ornaments to start him out. Then he proceeded to put dozens more of his little cars on the tree. He was so excited and said its beauuuutiful. It was awesome to see how excited he was about this small thing. (He also met Santa tonight and asked for a drum set. Lord help me!)

Big Boy School picture

Wish I knew the magic that the photographer used to get Hudson to:
1) Sit still
2) Look at the camera
3) Smile
4) all of the above at the same time.

Nothing was slowing him down.

Counting the stash

Hudson had a great time Trick or Treating. He hit all the cul de sacs in our area then told us he was done. Then let's go home.

Once home we of course had to look at each piece.

We Must Go on the Rollercoaster!!

At the Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo in Waco, Hudson was not leaving the midway to head over to the rodeo until we road the rollercoaster. Of course he also demanded that we sit in the very front row and insisted in putting his arms up like he had seen the big kids do. I am the first to admit that although I'll ride it with him, these are not the Wright genes showing up when it comes to rollercoasters. (I think I'll wait awhile before I tell him that I used to always chicken out once I would actually get to the front of the line.)

We have yet to find a slide too high for Hudson and the one at Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg was a big one. He loved it after the long climb up the side.

In case you can't read the details in the photo, here's the transcript:

We went to Costco yesterday and got a couple options of Halloween costumes / dress up clothes. Mommy likes the fireman costume best, but Hudson can't get enough of super heroes. So this morning, did I find my sweet boy? No! It was iron man watching cartoons. Quite something to wake up to, if u ask me!

Kissing an alpaca

We made our way this morning to Marble Falls, where we stumbled upon a little outdoor fair. Hudson couldn't resist getting up close and personal with an alpaca!

Hudson's First Day

Today was the first day of school for Hudson, and I loved everything about his new school.

He was so excited to go and see the trains and snakes ("they're just pretend, mommy"). He was ready to go an hour early, and happily played his new kazoo all the way to school (after "dropping trou" in the yard for a quick pee pee while I loaded the car).

I was so excited too. Here is Hudson as we walked into the school. So many people are rushing by that you can't blame him for not stopping to look at mommy!

Then we went to his classroom, and Hudson acted like an old pro. Since he'd been dying to go to school, I thought he'd be fine; but we all know how kids can turn on you! Well he was just great. Ms. Rosie helped him wash hands, and then he never looked back at me.
One reason I love Ms. Rosie is that she already said he was so smart. They learned the word NOCTURNAL today, and Hudson was the only one in the class to remember it later in the day. (And luckily, I got to hear it 15 more times throughout the evening.) He also played dress up and loved the tire swing.

I probably got more info about Hudson's day than at least a month in his old school. All in all, a great first day!

Fun Labor Day Weekend

We had such a great time with the Walkers at our house over the weekend, and it was just priceless to watch our kids play together. Of course we spent lots of time in the pool.

We also had some great meals and got to catch up about the "good old days," realizing it was our 10 year anniversary since they became our first Austin friends. Of course, we also had to take the quintessential bathtub shot.

We're so grateful to them for taking the time to come visit us and make it such a fun weekend!

Meet the Teachers

Hudson had "meet the teacher day" at his new school this morning. Ms. Gina and Ms. Rosie were so excited to meet Hudson, introduce him to his classmates and show him all the great toys & activities in his classroom.

Let's just say the trains, cars, instruments and bucket of snakes were all a big hit. Hudson is very excited to come back on Tuesday to start the new school year.

Don't lick my ear!

The photo missed the super long tongue that tried to lick us, but it was a very friendly giraffe.

Lot's of cool animals, like rhinos, zebras, camels, ostriches and more, at the Texas Disposal Systems' Exotic Game Ranch. They raise and exchange animals with other zoos. Have a full time vet on staff and feed over a ton of hay/day to all the animals.

A fun day at the Texas Disposal Systems' Exotic Game Ranch.

Hudson loved all the taxidermic animals. Over 250 of them; mostly of the animals that had passed away at the ranch.

Hudson had to check with me that the lion wasn't real, before he gave his Roar for the picture.

Never fear, there's a Superhero here to save you!

Hudson came in today to show me his muscles. He had just gone into his room to play and came back with the "perfect" outfit combining Star Wars undies, Mickey Shirt, Batman mask and red hero cape. :)

One tired super hero

Hudson naps approximately 1% of the time these days, but he was just a little too quiet in his room. So I sneaked a peek, and this is what I saw.

Yesterday was Hudson's first day ever to not have any pee pee accidents! So this morning, mommy got up extra early and went and got Hudson donuts! And chocolate milk!!! I had them hidden when he woke up, and he was so excited about his special treat (if you can't tell). We love a celebration around the Wright household!! Yippee!!!

We were so happy to have Truman and Aunt Tracy come stay with us - it was such a party that Hudson felt compelled to wear a party hat! And make a funny face (which we have been seeing quite a lot of lately)!

I just wish we would provide our little superhero with an adequate bed!

The Pancake Quest

Hudson woke up at 6:20 by getting out of bed and going to the potty by himself. As a reward Daddy took him out to get pancakes and to let Mommy sleep in.

Upon arriving at the cafe at 7, we found out it didn't open until 8. That didn't deter Hudson. He had us wait patiently on their front patio until 8. As the woman unlocked the door, Hudson told her "we're here for some pancakes please. "

His patience and manners resulted in a special Mickey Mouse pancake. Happy Boy! :)

Cute Things Hudson Says

Hudson says so many sweet and cute things; sometimes it's hard to even remember to write them down. But here's one from just now. I always tell him I don't want him to grow up and please stay mommy's baby forever.

Just now at dinner, I said:
"Hudson, did you know that you are growing, and that's why you are so hungry and sleeping more, so you can grow big and strong!"

Hudson looked at me with those big blue eyes and answered,
"And you want me to stay just the way I'm are?"

Sometimes, it hurts how sweet he is.

(Right now, he also answers most any question you ask him, "a little bit, but not tooooo much." You can't imagine how many circumstances he finds to answer this way. I have no idea where he got it. He also answers "No Way!" with a big smile a little more than I would prefer.)

Hudson's first fish

> Thanks to some other nice guests sharing their fishing gear, we had a great time fishing in the lake at Lost Pines. Hudson caught his first fish - with brisket! Can you see it there, in front of Kirk's leg? You shoulda seen the one that got away...

Hudson had a great time at Buela and Papas! We got on an earlier flight to Austin, but our luggage didn't. So we killed a little time at Callihan's General Store. Mr. Ralph made Hudson's day by letting him hold a baby chick!
